Your notes stay on your device

Privacy Policy

Natter · Last updated 28 June 2026

Natter (“the app”, “we”) is built privacy-first: what you say and the notes you make stay on your own device. We do not run servers that collect your data, we use no advertising, and we never sell your information.

Your voice

When you record, your speech is transcribed on your device using Apple’s on-device speech recognition wherever your device supports it. Your audio recordings are stored locally on the device that made them and are not uploaded to us.

What the app stores, and where

Your notes, to-dos, follow-ups and appointments are stored locally on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. If you are signed in to iCloud, that data syncs through your own private Apple iCloud account so it appears on your other Apple devices and is backed up. We cannot see it.

Calendar & Reminders

Natter asks for permission to access your Calendar and Reminders only when you choose to add an appointment or to-do to them. Nothing is read or uploaded — it only writes the item you asked it to.

Sharing between your devices

The optional QR-code sync and AirDrop features send a note directly from one of your devices to another over your local network or AirDrop. This is device-to-device only — it does not pass through us or any server. Local Network and Camera permissions are used solely for this (the camera scans the pairing QR code).

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Natter schedules local reminders on your device for to-dos that have a date. These are created and delivered on-device.

Payments

Natter is a one-time purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details — Apple handles all billing.

Analytics, advertising & tracking

The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking. There is no account and no login. We do not build a profile of you or share data with anyone.

Children

Natter is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.

Your control

Because your data lives on your device, you remove it by deleting the relevant notes in the app, or by deleting the app. Turning off iCloud for Natter stops it syncing to your other devices.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and post the new version on this page.
